Power Outage at SCC

SMUD restored power to Sacramento City College just after 10pm last night. The power outage affected several core systems resulting in networking and phone interruption. The network and phone issues were resloved at 6:30am this morning. We are continuing to monitor and test systems and will provide an update if other outages are discovered.

SMUD is investigating a power outage near Sacramento City College. Networking and other serivces at SCC are down at this time. SMUD does not have an estimated time of repair.

Network Outage

From 8:10pm to 8:30pm Los Rios experienced an unexpected network interruption. During that period eLearning (D2L), eServices (PeopleSoft), and faculty/staff email were unavailable. The issue has been resolved and all services are available.

At 3:20pm today we lost network connectivity to Sacramento City College. Technicians are troubleshooting the issue now. We will provide more information as it becomes available.

D2L Maintenance – completed. System is now available

The Los Rios D2L system will be unavailable August 12th for the normal between-semester maintenance. This will prepare the system for the new semester, including vendor software updates, purging of old courses, establish the new semester integration with eServices, and other necessary updates. After the maintenance is completed and tested, the system will return to service (possibly in the evening, but absolutely by 7:00 am the next morning). We appreciate your understanding of this important work.

Full Outlook clients are unable to get email from outside of the Los Rios networks

Any users running the full Outlook client from outside of Los Rios (home network, Panera, Starbucks, etc.), will not get any updates on their Outlook client until they return to a Los Rios network. If they are running their client in cached mode, they will see any cached emails and be able to queue up their responses. Those emails will deliver when the device connects to a Los Rios network.

Update on the extent of Natomas network outage

The current situation is that phones are still operational, with the exception of voice mail. All network services are unavailable, which includes access to E-mail, PeopleSoft, D2L, eServices, etc. We will update you when the estimated time to repair is available. Natomas Center network outage

Due to the wild fires yesterday, the fiber optic cables to the Natomas Center were damaged beyond repair. Currently, there is very limited access. We have been working with PG&E to acquire alternate fiber paths until new cable can be installed. We will update this page as soon as more information is available (estimated time to repair and the extent of the outage – what works and what does not). Thank you for your understanding.
